Hey! Super excited to finally ship my first DSP project. Been cooking this for a while and it’s finally live :)!!
The project is open source on GitHub and available at emberamp.app
Overview
Ember Amp simulates the warm, rich characteristics of vintage HiFi tube amplifiers directly in your web browser. Route your system audio (Spotify, YouTube, games, etc.) through a virtual audio cable, and the app applies real-time DSP processing including:
- 33 Mode (Vinyl Mode) – Slowed playback (with reverb) for vinyl record simulation (processes audio FIRST, before input gain); simulates going from 45rpm speed to 33rpm
- Tape Simulation – Wow/flutter, head bump, HF rolloff, stereo widening, odd harmonic saturation (3rd, 5th, 7th harmonics with 1/n³ decay)
- 4-Band EQ – Bass, Mid, Treble, Presence (fixed frequency parametric)
- Tube Saturation – Analog-modeled saturation with even harmonic generation (2nd, 4th, 6th harmonics with 1/n² decay)
- Transient Shaper – SPL Transient Designer-style processor using sidechain filtering (bass-focused detection, fullband processing), tightens low-end transients and recovers dynamic range
- Hard Clipper – 0dB output protection circuit
